Create Cluster Confusion

A great tactic for large melees is to have you and your comrades cluster together. By clustering together, your enemy will have a harder time locking onto a specific target. You can cluster around friendly constructs as well, so an enemy will have a harder time targeting that construct.
Remember that you can dodge by targeting a friendly player with warp. This means you can remain clustered around your comrades while dodging enemy spells.

All you really have to do is to keep tapping the cluster and eventually you'll get your target. It's what I do.

Clustering around a beacon can make it difficult for the enemy to select the beacon. This has happened to me many a time when we've pushed enough to get to green beacons but we can't get any further because people aren't able to easily target the beacons.
That said, battlers should still push forward, not stand around the beacon.

IMO, clustering only harms your team.. keep in mind, many are using the catcher sentry tactic now. one rare red catcher and you'll have the whole team in drain
not to mention, if you spread out, you can hit from all sides(and potentially ring around them) making it difficult for them to push in any direction, since no "front" is the front. taking the time to make sure everyone knows where to push could mean getting yourself banned without a way back.
