United States Battlegroups combined for 'Winter's Gift' Campaign

Seems pretty clear so far that you will make a lot of mages angry if this is permanent, Khamos.
Edit-- Is this related to the US Thanksgiving holiday? Since people will be traveling anyway, change the BGs completely?
I certainly hope that that's it and that you make the right decision next week

So, every round, US players have to make new relationships?
Your friend relationships won't of course change. This is basically the same how it has been working already in the biggest states that have had several battlegroups.

what are you guys smoking there at GA?
In what world is this a good idea?
Why do you insist on ruining a good game? I just don't get it
I understand that people in smaller BG may be tired of playing alone or with few other mages. So why not combine some of the smaller ones into larger BGs?
getting rid of regional battlegroups in a GPS-based game is asinine
Oh - and our battlegroup, as its last collective act, decided you are smoking pesticide-soaked oregano

The concept sounds interesting - I am certainly up for a campaign like this but agree that for a longer term prospect the idea of being separated from the friends and comrades I have fought and interacted with since I started in my BG is... not a good idea.
However, to make this work you really need to repeal the bcn list amputation so that mages can see their entire friends' list and more easily move around the country.

Asinine. This whole idea is asinine. This is no gift, Khamos, but a theft of the best aspect of this socially based game: community relationships that have been building up and growing over the months.

How can I help my friends and neighbors when I can't see their beacons and can't see their chat? I'm not trying to argue, but with the beacon lists as they work now, this upcoming change just seems like a total deal-breaker.

Khamos, is simple experimentation the driver for this change? Is there any potential benefit to performance?

This will be fun. Lots of battlegroups have become too one sided. In Texas we are going to be full sweep medal display after this campaign. I think maybe we can reach a compromise long term here. Maybe we could do a random BG campaign every third campaign or something. We keep out state based BG friendships with a random thrown in every third week for the mages in uncompetitive bgs.

So just to be clear, the first 1000 animators that log on will be in BG 1. The next 1000 will be BG 2?

Khamos, thank you for the reply. It will be interesting to see how this next campaign works out. Has GA thought of adding polls were players can vote on potential game changes? I am sure your research and development team spends a large amount of time writing code to role out new updates for the game. Perhaps adding a page listing potential ideas with "like" buttons would be beneficial in directing the team on which ideas should be priority. I can't imagine how difficult it is when you are deciding to make a change being that you know there is no possible way to please all players. However knowing what the majority would like may prevent such an outrage when ideas are implemented.
