Today's Spirit Buff

3/3 spirits banished me as i banished them. One of them hit me for a ridiculous 741!

While I entirely agree with the concerns and sentiments herein, I've found that some techniques can still help you adapt. For example, when attacking 1000+ spirits (or mages higher in level, even!) I may cast 1 or 2 WCs followed by an anticipatory AL, then immediately more WCs. Chug a potion at the right time, they often will fall.
As long as there's little to no true penalty for banishment, it's not all bad. And as for those missions for Rare Spirits, well, there's still a few types with HP levels <1000, and some below 500, so they're not necessarily too hard; just notably hard. And if it was easy, wouldn't be nearly as much fun, would it?

Once you're level 15 almost every uncommon and rare you will run into will be 1000+ and almost every rare will actually be at the top of the chain in the 1300-1400+ department. A lot of us don't like wasting our hard earned potions on a simple spirit, especially when they're the normal spirits for us. Banishment does mean waiting for a full restore or use of a potion as well, and when you get a double KO because of an unlucky anticrit or because the spirit got an insane critical hit in on you, you have to wonder if the energy was worth waiting a couple minutes to recharge again.
I don't ask for it to be easy, I like the concept of a challenge, that's what makes PVP enjoyable. But in PVP you aren't forced to sit there and take it, if you have skill you can dodge attacks etc, and considering the top spirits now hit fast and hard like a maxed player would, I feel it's justified to offer such abilities.
Assuming I don't get an anticrit or two(which also appear to be more common lately, others have agreed) I can usually take out even a Koschei without death with an Aria thrown in, but if they manage one of their insane crits which can actually top those of a maxed player(my max crit ever was a 693, I've seen spirits hit over 700) and you get a couple unlucky hits in you're likely to either get banished or if you're lucky a double KO.
Overall I like that the spirits have gotten a buff, but I don't like the overall execution of it, previously it was unbalanced because of their strength compared to us, now it's unbalanced because of our abilities compared to theirs lol.

We are adjusting the Spirits and their power in a number of rapid iterations. Yesterday we got out some infrastructure that had some unpredictable consequences.

I'm ok with tweaking the spirits, though sometimes it has been noticeable on how much faster their cast has become. Considering that I would often low-mana cast on spirits because I knew I had enough life until I regenned enough to cast again, I can certainly understand the change.
I think the best point to come out of this post is the teamwork aspect. In the blog (or one of the Staff blue posts) it was mentioned that the highest spirits should be almost impossible to solo, but when there is a team going after one of these only one of the players get credit for it. Obviously you don't want a situation where you have 4-5 low levels going after high level spirits because of the better reward and all of them sharing the reward, but if it requires teamwork or at least an additional person to heal or get off that one extra cast then there should be some shared reward.
Though personally, I'm still going to keep going after bigger and stronger, because I like the challenge. If I get banished every now and then because they get a crit, well sometimes I get crits that wipe them out in a couple of hits too. It can be annoying though to burn a potion in mid-fight and then get back to back crits that banish you. I will say though that this has woken us up a bit as our old casting and burning has definitely been affected by the hard hitting 3-Stars. Now its more of a question of whether you can actually get the burn off in time for it to be worth it.
