Speed Issues. iPad 2 Speed Boost.

This is probably not a very useful tip as I doubt many people would get an iPad 2 just for playing Shadow Cities. Awesome as the game is, it is probably a better deal to spend money on mana to secure yourself some hot realms such as NYC, Manhatton, Paris, London, Helsinki... than to get an iPad 2.

HOWEVER, if you are lucky enough to have one right now. Update the OS to the latest (Shadow Cities, in my experiences, won't last more than 10 seconds without crashing/auto quitting in the old iOS), and try the game on it. You will never have to wait the cloudview refresh that quite often lock up even the iPhone 4. As long as you have a good connection to your iPad 2, everything run smoothly and without any noticeable lags. If you have many many friend mages and experience the same problem as I do. Try playing the game on an iPad 2 and you will instantly see that that is how the game should be.

I know that there are probably many places where optimizations can be done to the game. But until those improvements are here, try to get your hands on an iPad 2.

I go back and forth between the original iPad and iPad2 every day and did not experience any lagging problems. I will say the graphic speed is slightly faster on the iPad 2, so yes, it would help that problem out. I also sent an email to Ville about either a Plus app or a dedicated iPad app and got the following reply, "Not right away, but surely in the future. We're now focusing on making the basic game play as great as it can be for you guys "

Keep your fingers crossed as the real estate available on an iPad would be awesome! I must say I was very impressed with the response and that it was returned to me within 9 hours. Definitely off to a great start and worth spending a little in-app money to pay these guys back.

I have not tried iPad so do not know the game performance on it. I assumed the performance on iPad would be on par with the iPhone 4 since they used the same processor (A4). Though I am probably playing with more than the maximum number of friends allowed. In 1.1.2, I just added every friendly mage and sometimes animator mages I saw in my visiting realms, before they jumped off. After upgrading to 1.1.3, I sometimes go back to 1.1.2 to squeeze in some friends. So I probably cannot blame anyone but myself for the constant freezes and crashes. However, freezes and crashes are all gone on the 1.1.2 on my iPad2.

I am very fascinated by the traveling by avatar and hanging out with friends aspects of the game and not so much in the fighting, though that is probably the main point. But what's fun playing the game as intended? It would be kind of like playing GTA only for the story.
