While we are still testing out some of the basic game mechanics in the current Shadow Cities client version, we are at the same time putting all our energy into developing our new game client, which will be released with the global launch this spring, starting from the US and perhaps a couple of other countries!
We are really excited about all the cool stuff our game designers have been working on during the past couple of months. Besides new content we will be also changing the focus of the gameplay quite a lot in the new client.
We know ...

This week we are bringing a highly experimental new feature into the game: Dodge spell.
And how does it work? If you manage to warp or dewarp to a long enough distance after an enemy Mage has started to cast a War Chant on you, you have a chance of dodging his spell. You can only dodge attacks of other Mages, not Spirits.
As said, this is an experimental feature and internet connections, especially 3G connections may have much influence on how the feature will work in real gameplay. With weaker connections the time to react after enemy has started ...

The theme of this week's Campaign is ruthless! Cast your War Chant upon thy enemies and defend your neighborhoods from hostile takeover by banishing as many Mages as your Z-Spell can reach.
We will be rewarding the most merciless Banishers with tempting Mana Potion rewards in the end of the Campaign.
Banishing opposition Mages gives also now more Energy points than before.
The Campaign is on!

Enter the streets of Shadow Cities for a Spirit hunt! During new moon period Mages look into the stars for guidance. The phasing Moon has affected the rarest of Spirits. The rare 3 star Spirits give out now an extra amount of Energy Points for your team when captured.
In New Moon Campaign we didn't want to bring any big new changes to the Campaign rules. We are also keeping Super Beacons and added Energy gain based on Realm values, which were introduced in the previous Campaign, as a part of the rule set. If you missed out on ...

But it was really close! It wasn't until the very last moments of the Campaign that the Animators overrode the Architects in gained Energy and took the win of the Campaign. But do not yield Architects, you shall have your chance to get back at the "hippies" really soon...
It was great to see also how the teams took advantage of the new Super Beacon feature. Many successful group attacks on enemy controlled neighborhoods were performed during the past week bringing new kind of action into Shadow Cities. Good job all!
Here are the top 5 players who made ...

After all the testing and tweaking and changing the weekly Campaign rules (yes, intentionally quite drastically for testing purposes), we would really like to hear your opinions and feelings about Shadow Cities and what's been going on in the game so far.
Some of you have been really active in giving us much appreciated feedback, but what we would now like to do, is get a larger pool of our Finnish beta players to share their thoughts about the game by answering our user survey, which you can find here.
We would also like to use this opportunity to ...

The High Commanders of the Animators and the Architects have decided to butt in to the battle instead of just observing their Mage troops from afar. Meet Architect Battle Control and Animator High Command.
These archmages, whose locations are still much of a mystery, have decided to intervene the battle by throwing Super Beacons in the middle of larger areas controlled by the opposing team. There's a small chance of these Beacons popping up where there is a lot of harvesting going on by the enemy.
Everyone in the team will be able to see these Beacons in their ...

Congrats to the Architects for dominating the Cloud Control Campaign from start to finish and nearly hitting the 1 million Energy point mark!
In Cloud Control we were testing the area control mechanics and in the next Campaign we'll be putting focus on Realm values. The Realm levels will be affecting the amount of gained Energy, making the higher level city Gateways the most valuable Realms to battle over. We are also planning on bringing an extra feature into the game. More to be revealed about this tomorrow.
Though strong Architect dominion also one Animator sprinted her way to ...
