Eventide Satire - Calling of the World
By Campaigns — Comment (1)
on Jan. 27, 2013 in"We've long since suspected the truth of this matter, but severely underestimated his involvement until now", an Architect's failed attempt at a whisper can be heard. "We have to show the letter to Architect Battle Control immediately", the mage continues. "It's imperative that we alone possess all the pieces of the past". Another mage takes the letter. "I understand the importance, Magister. My journey to deliver this letter will begin immediately".
Without hesitation, the mage sets out to deliver the letter, stepping into the nearest taxi. "Make haste to the Golden Gate Bridge", the driver is instructed. With a moment's peace available to digest the events of the last several hours, the Architect opens the letter and begins to read it once more -
As you know, the last few years of my life have been wholly dedicated to the service of our Academy. For quite some time, I've toiled for the cause, collecting what records I could find relating to the practice and technology of magic. I even began to pen my own records in hopes that my thoughts and findings might serve us well. Some of my writings have already proved quite useful, and many seem convinced that my chronicles will continue to be of great value to the Architects in the fullness of time. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to do so much.
After much deliberation, however, I've decided that my role - to simply watch and record, must come to an end. I have resources. I have means. I have cause. It is for these reasons, that standing idly by no longer feels acceptable. The device must be sabotaged at all costs. We must not allow the Animators to complete this project. They are calling it the Paige Compositor, but we know what it really is. We know what it would mean for all of us if the prototype proved successful. While l intend to be discreet in my efforts to stop development of this machine, my involvement cannot be fully masked. I will have to approach this situation as a man, not as a mage, relying only on my public merits and credibility. I will write to you again, most expediently, when progress on the task at hand is fully underway.
