Spirit Naming Contest!

If within you burns the passion and yearning to impact the world of Shadow Cities in a permanent and meaningful way, now is your chance! In the next content update, among other additions, we will be adding new spirits to the four existing houses, and have decided to give each of you an opportunity to name one of these new spirits!

If you would like your suggestion to be considered, all you need to do is post to our Facebook wall, the name of a spirit or entity steeped in myth, legend, or even popular folklore. Along with your submission, you must also present a short and compelling explanation as to why you feel your choice of spirit deserves a place among the few to have breached the shadow's veil, gaining entry into our world.

You may draw upon legends and myths from any period of time, culture, or region of the world when submitting your idea for a spirit name! If you'd like credit should your spirit be selected for the update, please be sure to also provide your mage name and academy!

This contest will end Monday, June 11 at approximately 6PM PDT, so be sure and submit your ideas soon! If you haven't already, you can also check out the 'Brief History of Magic'.

I would like to submit Wadjet. She’s an Egyptian and protector of women during child birth, and a protector of Lower Egypt. Often, she is represented by a snake (like on the crown of kings or other ornamental objects of value) which at times throughout history did or did not have wings. “Wadj” is often associated with the color green, so she would most likely be seen as a type of earth spirit. There is more to know about Wadjet but I don’t want to make this too lengthy, so I’ll end her introduction here. I think she would make a great spirit because she was truly a protector, quite an honorable role. If she were to be one of the few to break through the veil of shadow, she would most certainly be acting as a protector of something the spirits value. Maybe something we have not seen yet… Thank you, DragonReborn of the Architects

I think this name goes with the already existing spirits. And since it is a dead come back its fitting as spirits also is dead come back. It also goes well with the already existing nordic spirits.
