Weaver's Anguish - Caught in the Spin!

Mages around the globe have witnessed the power and fury of the Arachne Weaver, a devastating and ancient shadow spirit that’s newly entered our world. The battle for global domination between Animators and Architects continues to heat up, as experienced mages uncover the potential power to be gained from banishing the Arachne Weaver. Do you have the strength and resilience to stand against the horror of the ‘Weaver’s Anguish’?

The ‘Weaver's Anguish’ campaign will begin Monday, October 3 at approximately 11:00 AM PDT and will run for one full week. Individual rewards will be provided to top contributors at the end of each round and total energy gains can be tracked on the leader board.

There will be no special competitions this week as we continue to monitor and assess the gameplay balance of the Arachne Weaver encounter. Feel free to provide your feedback in this thread.

If you have questions about the Arachne Weaver, group buffs or new Arachne sigils, please review the information on our official Arachne Weaver FAQ.

Sorry, but "balance" is not a word I would associate with the current state of the Weaver spirit.

What's left to be said that hasn't already been brought up? First they summon enough spirits that it's near impossible to find it; and that's only if you don't lag out and crash while looking for it. Then there's the fact that those same spirits that make it so difficult to target or cast at are some of the strongest the game has to offer, and you get three or four of them casting against you at once - along with the spider itself. If you manage to survive that onslaught, you're still lucky to get cast or two off before it takes out the area's beacons, which combined with the 30 other mages required to take it down casting at the same time crashes the game every time. And because the beacons are now gone, you're lucky if you manage to get back to it. And if by some mysterious magic your device is able to handle all the casting lag and you're still around, you're still forced to drill through dozens of potions just to keep it below 20k HP. I'm a huge fan of the other optimisation tweaks the update brought with it, but they're basically negated if you're forced to do battle with the Weavers.

I think the spiders are a good addition to the game, but need some tweaking. In particular, I feel somewhat coerced to use a bunch of mana pots when fighting them... I have enjoyed being able to fully participate in the game without purchasing mana pots, and think that should not change. I agree there are some lagging issues, and targeting issues, but I think it's cool how you can smack a bunch of spirits in the vicinity of a spider, thereby completing missions, so easily!

Balance of the spider is not what is needed in my opinion. The biggest problem with the spider battles is the frustration. Hyac mentioned pretty much everything above but to make it clear: 1. Crashes occur often 2. So many spirits that you can't target anything, the spider, the spirits or warp points to move 3. Lag, lag and more lag 4. What spirit is attacking me? If I could figure that out I could either attack the spirit or warp away (assuming that the lag would let me) 5. You can't coordinate the battle while in the battle so if some less experienced mages come in right as you are getting the spider down to say 5K hit points it will get "healed" back up to 25K. 6. Why go into these epic battles in the first place? I've spent a half hour in some of these battles just for everyone to give up and the spider go to sleep. Even if we kill it we get maybe a sigil and most of the time less energy than completing a mission. The spider battles were great for a while when the battles were well manned and manned with people who understood what to do. Met lots of new people and had lots of fun. Now the battles are just frustrating and the people who know how to battle spiders ignore the battles altogether. Having powerful spirits isn't necessarily bad, but having so many spirits that you can't see anything is just painful. If this game had a way to really communicate during a battle to all of your allies in the battle then perhaps things would be better but as it stands now you can't battle something that requires coordination when there is no way to coordinate. I don't know exactly what the answer is but I would guess if you reduced the sheer number of spirits in the battle then a lot of the frustration might go away (e.g. you can actually target things and likely the lag and crashes go down).

Geez apparently you can't use returns in your post, my post above is completely unreadable compared to what I wrote!

I want a way to know which spirit is targeting me. If I'm being attacked by a 1700 hp spirit in a mass of white, I only have a little time to attack back. Highlight it in purple or something, it's ridiculous Where's Waldo? game when I'm attacking the spider and suddenly get a 300 hp hit. From where? Which of these hundred spirits attack me?

I don't hunt spiders at all anymore, which really disappoints me because I have a strong online affection for all things arachnoid. Most Architects feel the same way: spider beacons have low turnout, not nearly enough to take out a spider even if we wanted to in addition to all the problems listed above. Fact is, after the last update, I've found myself playing Shadow Cities less than ever before.

I love spiders. But lag and crashing makes it very unpleasant. As well as using 10-30 pots per spider. At least give a mana pot reward out for fighting one.

I might be in a minority in this thread, but it seems to me that many Animators have had great success in the last few days assembling squads to hunt spiders, and I have to say I've really been enjoying the experience so far.

If, for some reason, it is necessary to throw in hundreds of spirits, why don't you do that, at the point when spider dies? (perhaps it is mentioned to be opportunity to gain back some of the used mana?)

We are implementing a server update later this week which will tackle the issue with huge amount of spirits spawning when many players are attacking the Weaver for a long period of time. Once the update has been implemented please do share your insights of how you feel about the new spawning rate!

I think you should give out extra mana pots to mages healing other mages in spider fights. That way we would work better together as a team and look out for each other, and being hit when the game lags wouldn't feel as bad. We also get a better chance staying in battle if healed by teammates, which is important as spider takes bc.

One thing I find troubling is that no matter how many spiders I kill, I never get the sigils. It's so frustrating.

The app crashes ALOT during weaver battles. I decided to avoid them instead of re-logging in repetitively for the promise of a sigil. Heavy lag and crash threat are too frustrating to make these challenges fun for me - I would rather continue playing at another SC location and not crash.

its better but in the early ons its hard to keep a weaver with out hitting it so its annoying to have 3 and watch them all disappear befor help arrives
