Song of Arms – Harmony in Discord

As magic begins to spread rapidly in the modern era, new ideas blend with old philosophies. Feelings of animosity grow particularly strong amongst Animators who view the Architects’ handle over magic as empty and irresponsible. An inharmonious discord can be heard from the echo – a Song of Arms for any burning soul seeking beauty through destruction.

Tension between Architects and Animators grows more intense as Mages of the two Academies redouble strategic support in player vs. player hot-spots around the globe.

Beginning with the Song of Arms campaign, the teams will gain access to new Battlegroup Beacons appearing in the Cloudview menu. Especially when one side begins to fall behind in Energy, Battlegroup Beacons will be summoned to locations near gateways found in major cities and all mages within that Team will be notified via the Main View.

The ‘Song of Arms’ campaign will begin Monday June 13, 2011 at approximately 11:00 AM PDT and will run for one full week. The campaign will be split into three rounds and afterward five Mages will be randomly selected amongst the top one-hundred players with the highest number of enemy banishes and be rewarded with an official Shadow Cities iPhone skin!

Is there any way to see if we're in the top 100?

Can someone please explain the logics behind these Battle Control beacons? When exactly will they appear and disappear and is there anything you can do about them while they're up? I haven't been online very much the last few days, but had the impression that last battlegroup campaign was won by the archies. Still their beacon is up an shining in my goddamned backyard! :)

Sounds like a nice tweak to the game, let the battles begin!

I uh... I have an iPod Touch... not an iPhone... any chance they'll be available for the Touch?

The mechanics of these beacons does not seem to make any sense. We were losing, yet their unkillable beacon showed up and people started warping in and attacking everything I had. Hardly seems fair. Rather demoralizing when we usually lose anyway.

    Pretty crazy campaign. Interesting twist...

ooof... 20000 hit point beacon that doesn't give any energy for being destroyed?!? um... yeah thats some intense manna expenditure to not get anything for it at all. They do add a lot to the game downtown, not so much other places. I find it frustrating that they seem to lend themselves to helping out the top player from the animators maintain his dominance in our battlegroup but that may just be sour grapes.

how long do these beacons last if they are not killed?

Alright. More than 24 hours since I put my question here, but still no response? These Battle Control Beacons seem to pop out randomly. As far as I can tell, the Animators are behind, and still the Architects Battle Control Beacon shows up just outside my house. This means everytime I try to log on to the game, there are a dozen Archies waiting for me. If I manage to warp to the battlefields where my own beacons and dominators are to protect them, it only takes one or two blows to banish me, since the primary attack at the moment I logged in. Instead of building more long-time aspects into the game, you seem to focus on making it even shorter. I guess this is what makes us "long time" players finally cut the cord. It makes me a bit sorry though.

I think someone forgot a 'not' in the logic somewhere, because the Battlegroup Beacons appear to be coming down for the winners, not the losers. I'm in the Denver area and the Archs are behind by a good 3000 energy and the Animators still get the Battlegroup beacons.

Hey Mages! The battlegroup beacons appear with higher probability to the losing local team, but yes they do also appear to the winning team. Note also, that the battlegroup beacons stay up for a random period of time, so some of them will disappear sooner than others. This means that the team needs to be quick with their attack once a battlegroup beacon is summoned. The banisher competition is an extra comp for this campaign and the winners will be announced once the campaign has ended. Unfortunately we couldn't bring a feature that would show you the current top 100 situation, but we'll check if this type of feature is something we could bring i.e. to the web site in the future.

Yes we are! It'll be published on the Campaign Forums on tuesday June 21st along with the names of the winners of the Shadow Cities skins.

I didn't see a single Battlegroup Beacon the entire week. None of the players I've asked that I play with here have either. Guess Arkansas just doesn't have enough of an active playerbase?
