Heads up on the upcoming changes

Here’s the promised heads up on the upcoming Campaign that starts on Friday afternoon. We're still tweaking the details, but to sum it up: the goal will be to conquer as many Gateways as possible for your team in your Cloudview area.

You get Energy points depending on how many Gateways within the Cloudview belong to your team. So we’re shifting focus from conquering single neighborhoods towards conquering cities.

Partly inspired also by the good player feedback, we see a new version of Harvest that emphasizes area control and offensive play.

The most essential changes to the rules are:

1. There are no more conquer points or negative conquer points. You can
always remove Dominators without any penalty.

2. Gateway can only be conquered when there are no enemy Dominators. You can build your own Dominators, but the Gateway will not switch to your team before all enemy Dominators are destroyed.

3. When you conquer a Gateway, one of your Dominators is immediately filled with Energy and can be harvested. This replaces the old Conquer points. You can still only harvest Dominators that you can see from your physical Cloudview like before.

Emphasis from harvesting to area control

When you harvest a Dominator, the amount of Energy you get depends on the number of Gateways the teams control within the Cloudview area. The more Gateways your team controls, the more points you will get from each Harvest.

Harvesting is also much less frequent than it used to be. Dominators fill up slower so you are not harvesting all the time anymore. You have a tactical decisions when it comes to harvesting: Do you harvest now or do you attempt conquer more Gateways before you do?

So your incentive in the upcoming Campaign will be as a team to Conquer as much new territory as possible and hold it. The enemy’s goal is to disrupt your network of Gateways.

This is the first version of the new game mechanism to see how it performs in live play. We are testing point systems and basic game mechanics and gathering data to see what kind of additional things we can build on top of area control and offense.

Until friday!
