23 FebWhat Gets Our Players Hooked on Shadow Cities?

Read how the battle over neighborhoods in Shadow Cities gets a grip on our players and what have been the highlight moments so far in the game for some of them.

Thanks to all the Mages who shared their experiences from the game with us. You’re welcome to share your own best game moments by commenting this article. We’d love to hear more of these stories!

Jarzilla, level 15 Mage of the Animators
“Definitely the most memorable moment so far for me has been the night when 30 Architects raided my once so peaceful and private Dominator farm in my small home town Lemi in Southern Finland. I was totally owned!

Also the time when I managed to banish 6 enemy Mages in a row by myself(!) and help a fellow Animator to block the Architects from invading our neighborhood was pretty unforgettable.”

Muffinssi, level 14 Mage of the Architects
“I love doing drive-by hits on Animator Dominators, conquering Gateways and zapping enemy Mages from bus on my way to work to Helsinki and back home to Espoo. I think it’s also really cool how players are willing to come to help you. All you need to do is give a shout in the in-game chat and someone will warp to fight by your side.”

Charon, level 15 Mage of the Animators
“One of the craziest experiences in the game so far has been the battle which was organized by players themselves between two weekly Campaigns. It was totally insane but fun! It was also amazing to meet so many players in the live meet-up arranged in Helsinki in January. At the moment I’m planning an unofficial meet-up in my home city Tampere.”

Saragorn, level 15 Mage of the Architects
“I feel that the social side is a key element in making the game as addictive as it is. Besides chatting in the in-game chat I’ve also met a handful of players and it’s always been rather spontaneous. Say someone’s going out for lunch and you’re in the neighborhood, why not go together and see the SOB who’s always after your doms, haha!

One of my most memorable moments was when I had had a dreadful day and a bunch of Animators took down my small Dominator farm, which really upset me. An Animator “friend” built a Catcher pathway back to my place to heal me and to offer his apologies!”

Diiiiie hippies! You may have the lead on the current campaign but we won’t go down without a fight!

Social side of the game is damn cool. Bragging & taunting in chat is very very nice, for example modified song lyrics some time back. Downside of having opponents in friendlist is that it gives away all the sneaky plans you may have when roaming around Have to admit though, some of the hippies are in fact quite cool people too.

I take it back. After recent campaign I must adjust my attitude & admit that hippies are not cool people. :-S

That’s nice. So I can chat (which usually crashes the game) while trying to play it (which usually crashes the game), try to work with the buggy UI while crashing the game.

So, all we need now is a game that doesn’t crash, has campaigns that actually make you want to play it and we have a winner!
