What's Coming

We have been listening to you on how you feel about the game and your experiences playing it the past several days. The main point we want to get across is that Shadow Cities is not a game that ships and is then forgotten by its developers. If something rubs our players the wrong way, we work hard to make it go away.

Clearly farming Dominators has become a large part of the recipe for success in Shadow Cities. Perhaps a too large. We are currently working on a solution to gradually shift the game play from remote Dominator farms towards more central locations where it belongs - locations where the battles should be waged and neighborhoods conquered.

The time has come to leave our peaceful farms and turn our plows into Zs. The Energy Gateways are coming alive and like volcanos releasing energy regularly to be captured by your Dominators.

Conquer your city:

- Each Energy Gateway is now important resource for your team. At every hour every single Gateway in the world releases a significant amount of energy. The team that is controlling the Gateway at that precise moment captures the energy and the energy is added to the team’s energy total.
- The amount of energy that the Gateway releases depends on multiple factors like the Realm value and how fiercely the Gateway has been battled over.
- The controlling team receives the full value of the released energy. Players of the controlling team who have Dominators in the Gateway each receive a split of that energy to count towards their individual Campaign Energy.
- The player share of the energy is calculated by dividing the released energy equally to each player that has Dominators attached to the Gateway. It doesn’t matter how many Dominators you have in the Gateway, one is just as good as five. Of course conquering a Gateway and holding it might require more than one Dominator. That’s up to you and the enemy.
- Each hourly Gateway release is a violent occurrence that damages all the Dominators attached to the Gateway. If unattended and unhealed, the Dominators will slowly crumble and get destroyed. This way you cannot simply leave your Dominators to remote locations and expect them to stay there unharmed.

Harvesting:

- Harvesting game is not going away but its returns will diminish. Creating huge farms is no longer profitable.
- Each Gateway will produce a certain amount of Energy for normal harvesting. This energy is split among all the ruling team's Dominators in the Gateway. So, for example, if Punavuori generates 12 energy for harvest and there are 12 Dominators attached to the Gateway, each Harvest returns 1 energy point.

We will adjust point values and technical details but this is the crux of the new game mode. This won't come in a one huge update, but we are rather rolling these out incrementally during the coming weeks.

Oh,... almost forgot. We also implemented a feature called Banish. You can figure out soon what that means.
